The PR Girl Toolbox….

Alright, it’s about to be the peak of the holiday season and if your the true PR Girl at heart like I am, sometimes life can get so crazy that we sometimes forget to even relax or eat for that matter. Here are a few tips to get you back to diva mode, no matter how pressed for time you may be you still need to take care of self.

10 Ways To Relieve Stress

Relieve Stress

For many of us, the pressure is on; assignments, finals, and internship interviews are on the agenda. With so much going on, how do you overcome stress?

  • Get organized.  Make a to-do list and schedule assignments throughout the week.
  • Sleep more. Set an earlier bedtime or take a power nap every day.
  • Work out. Pick any kind of exercise you like–pilates, dance, or martial arts, just to name a few.
  • Set up an aromatherapy bath. Use candles and oils to create a relaxing atmosphere.
  • Get a massage.  Choose between a facial or full body massage–or get both!
  • Go shopping.  If you’re a PR Gal On A Budget then limit your spending, but treat yourself. You deserve it.
  • Go on a mini-vacation.  Pick a local and inexpensive getaway; for New Yorkers, Atlantic City is a great option.
  • Unplug. Sign out of social networks and limit your phone use.
  • Party! Go out for a night of dancing and/or karaoke.
  • Get creative.  Bake cupcakes, do some knitting, write, or draw. Use a creative outlet to let off steam.

What helps you relax?

Confidence And The PR Woman

Posted By The PR Woman

Confidence

This morning while preparing for work, I stared at myself in the mirror for a few seconds. I love my body, I thought, thinking that other women, ALL women should feel the same way.

Confidence related to the superficial will lead to more confidence – you know, the kind that won’t allow others to bring you down. As woman, we’ve already been dealt some difficult cards. I don’t believe there’s any need to add to the hardships. But maybe feeling confident isn’t the easiest thing either. The way I see it, true confidence is much more than a few uttered words. Oftentimes it’s about knowing better than wasting your time trying to explain yourself to others, because you’re sure where you stand. Maybe confidence, similarly to happiness, is only acquired through time and must be pursued and protected.

What does confidence mean to you? How do you feel about yourself? If you don’t like your responses to these questions, then focus on yourself. Confidence is about getting to know yourself and accepting yourself…flaws and all. The more confident you are, the greater your chances of becoming a successful public relations professional.

Eminem and Rihanna first hooked up in 2010 for the sequel to “Love the Way You Lie,” where the combination of his hard-hitting lyricism and her sultry vocals drove the fans so crazy. Their ingenious collaboration resulted in a No. 1 record.

Detroit’s finest and the Barbadian songstress team up again in the latest single off The Marshall Mathers LP 2, “The Monster.”

Where “Berzerk” evoked an old school rap feel and “Rap God” boasted Eminem’s classic aggressive word-play, “The Monster” is laced with a poppy bounce, as Eminem waxes poetics about one day leading a normal life.

Rihanna’s winning hook is all the more infectious.

Free Falling is a honest, transparent, vulnerable record about a man putting his heart on the line first in a relationship. Hoping that his feelings are reciprocated. So for the viral, I really just admire the simplicity of it all.

5 Essential Tips To Help Build Your Child’s Self Esteem

HelloBeautiful

how to build your child self esteem

My oldest son, Jayden, recently started Kindergarten, which for me opened a floodgate of emotions. I had a rough time growing up and I received my share of ridicule in school. Self-esteem is something that I struggled with in the past, and unfortunately the spite from some of my peers still linger on today. Growing up, I needed a little more encouragement than “You can do it” and “They’re just jealous”. I lived and I learned. Now I have the opportunity to do things a little differently, making sure that my boys are more resilient than I. Here are some great ways (that we apply in our household) to help build your child’s self esteem.

1. Give Them The “Why”

It is so important for our children to know that we care, believe in them, and understand the matter we are particularly providing encouragement for. While it is our job…

Breast Cancer Awareness Month & Beyond……

Let’s Not Stop Here…Let’s Continue To Fight!!!!!!

Let’s Beat This Disease…..

Although October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness active participants in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease. should be supported everyday.  My fight began in 2001 when my friend Judi had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, but lost her battle in 2003.  I think I was more scared for her than she was, she was truly a fighter, every since that day I have dedicated my yearly charity (along with many others) to help find a cure and be more aware and in tuned with my own health.

Breast cancer occurs when cells in the breast divide and grow without their normal control. Tumors in the breast tend to grow slowly. By the time a lump is large enough to feel, it may have been growing for as long as 10 years. Some tumors, however, are aggressive and grow much faster.

Between 50 and 75 percent of breast cancers begin in the milk ducts, 10 to 15 percent begin in the lobules and a few begin in other breast tissues [4]. Learn more about breast anatomy.

It is important to understand the differences between invasive breast cancer and non-invasive breast cancer, called ductal carcinoma in situ (DUK-tul kar-sin-O-ma in SY-too, sometimes called DCIS). These differences affect treatment and prognosis.

Learn more about breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.

Invasive breast cancer

Invasive breast cancer occurs when abnormal cells from inside the ducts or lobules break out into nearby breast tissue. Cancer cells can travel from the breast to other parts of the body through the blood stream or the lymphatic system. They may travel early in the process when the tumor is small or later when the tumor is large.

The lymph nodes in the armpit (the axillary lymph nodes) are the first place breast cancer is likely to spread. In advanced stages, the cancer cells may spread to other parts of the body like the liver, lungs, bones and brain (a process called metastasis).

Non-invasive breast cancer – ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)

When abnormal cells grow inside the ducts, but have not spread to nearby tissue or beyond, the condition is called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). The term “in situ” means “in place.” With DCIS, the abnormal cells are still “in place” inside the ducts. DCIS is a non-invasive breast cancer (you may also hear the term “pre-invasive breast carcinoma”).

Although the abnormal cells have not spread to tissues outside the ducts, they can develop into invasive breast cancer. Learn more about DCIS and the risk of invasive breast cancer.

Miss. Pastor Bans Fried Chicken and Sugary Drinks from Church Events

Black America Web

Pastor Dr. Michael Minor of the Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Mississippi banned fried chicken and sugary drinks from church potlucks with the hopes of promoting healthier living and combating obesity in his community.

Pastor-Minor

Minor told Yahoo News the change has been a success, he explained, “You can see the difference. People are much better sized, way better. And once they get it off, they want to keep it off.”

He now has a new mission and it’s in support of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly referred to as “Obamacare.”

Minor is  working to sign-up uninsured people for health benefits through the ACA. His church received a federal grant to assist people with signing up.

Over 70 people from the church have been trained to properly use the government site and they plan on rolling out the initiative in November.

Do you think more pastors should encourage…

Unleashing Your Potential….

Life hands us a lump of marble and requires us to liberate the exquisite figure hidden inside. You are the architect of your fate.

Your finished product depends not on the quantity of the marble handed to you, but more on your ability to see what lies within that mass and your patience in crafting out the masterpiece the world will cherish.

There is a You in you that has not been seen yet. A You, unknown to your family, friends, colleagues or boss. A You, waiting to be liberated.

Your lump may be twisted and ready to be rejected as a mess, but that’s not what is important. The important thing is what your finished product will look like.

There is a You hidden inside of you. The ‘U’ in you is the Unknown hidden in the marble – will it be Unusually Unique, Unfazed or Unwanted and Undesirable? It’s your choice.
