Community News…Breast Cancer Walk 2015
Dear Friends and Family,
I recently accepted the challenge to participate in the Komen Central Indiana Race for the Cure on Saturday April, 18th.
I am writing to ask if you would consider making a tax-deductible contribution in support of my personal fundraising goal. Your contributions will help fund vital breast cancer screening, treatment, education and research programs.
You can make an online donation to support me by clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. Or if you prefer, you can send a tax-deductible contribution to the address listed below. No donation is too big or small. In addition to research, proceeds fund community-based breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment for under-insured and uninsured women. Thank you and I will be sure to keep you posted on my fundraising progress.

Breast Cancer Walk April 18 2015…meet me there!!!
We Race Because…
- One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
- And because every minute, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer.
- Because breast cancer knows no boundaries- be it age, gender, socio-economic status or geographic location.
- We continue to Race because at the current rate, 13 million breast cancer deaths around the world will occur in the next 25 years.
But, when you participate and fundraise for the Race, we fight these statistics together. In 1980, the 5-year relative survival rate for women diagnosed with early stage breast cancer (cancer confined to the breast) was about 74 percent. Today, that number is 99 percent. Komen has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer – transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors.
Central Indiana Race for the Cure®
In its 24th year, this 5K fundraiser is much more than a Race. Race for the Cure turns the city pink each April, bringing together more than 16,000 participants and includes an inspiring Survivor Parade supported by their family and friends.
In 2014, Race participants and donors raised $1.3 million. Funds raised at Race for the Cure make an impact throughout the year.
Komen Central Indiana focuses on helping women in our community, today. Your support allows Komen to fund breast health services and education for women who are underinsured and uninsured. Last year’s grant cycle provided 59,000 breast health services to 22,000 individuals right here in Central Indiana.
On the global level, proceeds fund breast cancer research seeking improved treatments and cures for future generations. We have the power to help find the cures for breast cancer right here in our community. Throughout the years, over $23 million from Komen supporters has returned to fund programs in Indiana research facilities.
