Indianapolis, IN, May 15, 2015 — The Asante Children’s Theatre of Indianapolis, will close its 25th Anniversary Season with “Q, A Musical Tribute to Quincy Jones” on Father’s Day weekend, June 18 – 21, 2015. Producer of the best-selling album of all time, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, this tribute show is a diverse sampling of Quincy Jones’ brilliant career. The show will be presented at The Madame Walker Theatre Center in downtown Indianapolis, 617 Indiana Avenue, 46202.
Writer/Director Deborah Asante and her troupe will utilize spoken word, dance and song to marvel at Quincy Jones’ consistent creativity. Asante states, “From Jazz to Hip Hop, Quincy has always been ahead of the crowd. It is so delightful to expose and educate the young artists in our cast to this master of music.”
Some of the songs being presented are: Get The Funk Outta My Face, Razzmatazz, 100 Ways, Michael Jackson’s BAD, Stuff Like That and his 1962 tune Soul Bossa Nova, made famous in the Austin Powers movies. Quincy Jones has penned many film and TV scores including The Color Purple, The Wiz, Roots and the theme songs for Sanford and Son, The Bill Cosby Show and Ironside to name a few.
Jones is the all-time most nominated Grammy artist with a total of 79 nominations and 27 Awards. He is a descendant of the Tikar people in Cameroon.
