Community News….Women of A New Tribe Exhibit

A Photographic Celebration of African American Women

August 3 – September 26, 2015

The Indianapolis Public Library will host the nationally touring exhibition, Women of a New Tribe, at Central Library, August 3 through September 26. This exhibit, created by noted North Carolina photographer, Jerry Taliaferro is a photographic study of the beauty, strength and impact of 60 representative African American women across the country. A popular feature of the exhibit is the inclusion of portraits of women from the hosting community. In order to select local women to be photographed for inclusion in the exhibit, IndyPL invites you to nominate candidates to represent Indianapolis.

Who is a “Woman of a New Tribe”?

In every community there are both “movers and shakers” and “unsung heroines” – caring individuals, volunteers and paid professionals who go beyond their expected responsibilities to make a difference. If you have a role model, friend, family member or coworker who is having an impact in the Indianapolis community, nominate her for this unique honor.

IndyPL Local programming for “Women of a New Tribe” is presented in partnership with the Indianapolis Recorder.
