How to Enter

Saturday, October 31, 2015

To be eligible, participants must be Marion County students, grades 9-12. All entries must be

the original work of entrants. Keep it clean: absolutely no profanity will be allowed!

Entries will be read and judged by the African American History Committee.

The judges will consider originality, quality of writing and theme development.

Each entry MUST be attached to an official Entry Form (see back side).

Please submit a typed or legible written copy of your original poem and a recording (cassette

or CD) of your reading to: LaShonda El, Eagle Library, 3325 Lowry Road,

Indianapolis, Indiana, 46222, deliver to your local INDYPL library.

You can also submit your poem online at http://www.indypl.org

Winners will be notified. Participants must be registered by 12:00pm on event day.

WINNERS AND PRIZES

All

participants will receive participation gift cards. Ten teen poets will be selected to receive

$25.00 gift cards and perform their winning entries at FALL FEST 2015 –

Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Central Library Clowes Auditorium.

Each winner will be given three minutes to perform his or her work.

The Teen Poetry performance will be followed by an AWARDS CEREMONY.

All participants are encouraged to be present to receive their awards.

A photo shoot for all participants will be at 3:30pm.

Award presentation will be given by

Nikki Giovanni, World-renowned poet, writer,

commentator, activist, and educator.

Made possible by the Donna D. Talley Story Theatre Fund, the Dr. Michael R. Twyman Endowment

Fund and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
