March Chairty ~ St Jude Research Hospital

March Is National Health Month

This month we are taking our $10.00 funds and donating to

St. Jude Research Hospital

st judeThe Mission

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay. St Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life threatening diseases.

The History

Unsure of his life’s direction, a young Danny Thomas sought guidance from St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes. If the saint would point to the path he should take, Danny vowed to build a shrine in his name. Success followed Danny’s plea and soon after, the legendary entertainer set about fulfilling his vow to St. Jude. The result was St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

February Charity – World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day

Saturday Feb 4, 2017

World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4 to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. World Cancer Day was founded by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration, written in 2008. The primary goal of the World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer by 2020.[1]

World Cancer Day targets misinformation,[2] raises awareness, and reduces stigma.[3] Multiple initiatives run on World Cancer Day to show support for those affected by cancer. One of these movements is #NoHairSelfie, a global movement to have “hairticipants” shave their heads either physically or virtually to show a symbol of courage for those undergoing cancer treatment.[4] Images of participants are then shared over social media. Local events also take place.

September Charity – Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House in central Ohio is the largest in the world with 137 guest rooms!  Every night, hundreds of moms, dads, brothers and sisters stay with us in the House, only steps away from Nationwide Children’s Hospital. What we are able to provide at the Ronald McDonald House is a bit of stability in the midst of challenging times. Families can make the House their home-away-from-home for as long as their child is being treated in the hospital.

The Columbus Ronald McDonald House is owned and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. Family stays are based on referrals from the hospital. The House operation relies on volunteers and donations received from the private sector, groups and individuals. Monetary donations, in addition to in-kind goods and services, are needed for general operations.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana (RMHCCIN) provides a supportive home-away-from-home for more than 5,000 families of children every year receiving medical care at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and other area hospitals.

We are the premier No-Kill Animal Rescue Organization in the Tri-State area. A registered 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit Corporation, our team of volunteers serve Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. We are saving animals…everyday…with YOUR help!

Our volunteers foster our rescue animals in their homes.  We do not have a building, or shelter. Our volunteers devote time and love to each and every animal.  Our volunteers administer medications when needed for sick animals, care for wounded, and rescue the neglected, abused and unwanted animals.  We are very passionate about our efforts and hope that you are able to see that on the faces of the animals.

Please contact us if you have an animal which is in need of help, if you would like to become a volunteer team member, if you would like to make a monetary donation to help with veterinary care, if you have food and/or pet supplies to donate, or if you want to make ANY donation of TIME, TALENT, & TREASURE.

You can feel good knowing that all proceeds donated go STRAIGHT TO THE ANIMALS!  There is NO payroll and there are NO salaries…100% of all resources go toward one common goal…improving the lives of the animals. Our animals are “sheltered” in the homes of our volunteers…we feel that this close-up and personal care leads to better socialization of the animal which, in turn, creates a happier, healthier, and more adoptable pet!

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Food, shelter, transportation, medical care, and even toys cost money. Save an animal in need today by making a monetary donation, then contact us to find out how you can help us and how we can help you. THANK YOU!
